1. Who we are
- Layover is made by Anmoll Wadhwa, sole proprietor, trading as The Wadhwa Ventures, New Delhi, India. "We" and "us" mean him. By creating an account, playing or buying anything in Layover, you accept these terms and the Privacy Policy. If you got Layover from the App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies, and these terms add to it.
2. Eligibility and age
- You must be 13 or over to use Layover in India, and 18 or over in every other country. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you, and they are responsible for your use of Layover and for any purchase made on your device. We may close an account we believe breaks these age rules. Layover is not offered in the EU, the EEA or the UK in this version.
3. Your account
- Sign in with your email and a one-time code, or with Google on Android. There is no password.
- One account per person. Keep your email account secure; anyone with access to it can sign in as you.
- You can delete your account at any time (section 14 and the delete page).
4. How the game works, fair play and cheating
- Scores are calculated on our servers. The daily puzzle is the same for everybody.
- No bots, scripts, modified apps, emulated clients, shared answers sold or traded, or second accounts used to climb the leaderboard.
- If we reasonably believe you cheated or broke these terms, we may reset your scores, remove you from any leaderboard, remove hints or features gained by cheating, suspend your account, or close it. Hints and passes you bought are not refunded when we act for cheating or a breach of these terms.
- We may fix bugs that change scores. We will not change a score to favour anyone.
5. The leaderboard and the hint marker
- The weekly leaderboard is public to players. It shows your handle, avatar and weekly points.
- Hints cost ranked points. Using a hint lowers the points that round earns.
- A round played with a hint is marked as a hint round in your result. The marker exists so that players can compare like with like.
- The leaderboard is a game, not a contest. There are no prizes, and no prize of any kind will be tied to the leaderboard.
6. Handles and conduct
- Your handle is public. It has 3 to 16 characters: lower case letters, numbers, full stops and underscores. We block reserved words and profanity when you pick it and each time you edit it.
- No impersonation, slurs, hate, harassment, threats, spam, or handles that advertise something.
- Do not host, display, upload, publish, share or store anything in Layover, including your handle, that: belongs to another person and that you have no right to use; is obscene, pornographic or paedophilic, invades someone's privacy (including bodily privacy), insults or harasses anyone on the basis of gender, is racially or ethnically objectionable, relates to or encourages money laundering or gambling, or promotes enmity between groups on grounds of religion or caste with intent to incite violence; is harmful to a child; infringes a patent, trademark, copyright or other proprietary right; misleads people about where a message came from, or knowingly spreads information that is false or misleading and may reasonably be taken as fact; impersonates another person; threatens the unity, integrity, defence, security or sovereignty of India, friendly relations with foreign states or public order, incites a cognisable offence, prevents the investigation of an offence, or insults another nation; contains a virus or any code designed to interrupt, destroy or limit a computer resource; is an online game that has not been verified as a permissible online game, or advertises or promotes such a game or a platform that offers one; or breaks any law in force.
- Report or block any player from the leaderboard. A report also hides that player from your board. We acknowledge a report within 24 hours and decide it within 7 days, and sooner for content that must be removed faster (see the Grievance section of the Privacy Policy and the Support page). We may remove a handle, reset it, or close an account.
- We decide what handles are acceptable. We may refuse, reset, hide or remove any handle, and suspend or close an account, if we reasonably believe it breaks these terms, the law, or puts other players at risk, with or without notice. Removal does not depend on a report.
7. Virtual items: hints and the Explorer Pass
- Hints and the Explorer Pass are a limited, personal and revocable licence to use features inside Layover. You do not own them, they have no cash value, and they cannot be exchanged for money, sold or gifted. Bought hints cannot be moved to another account. We may revoke them only when a store refunds the purchase, when we act under section 4 or 12, when you delete your account, or when Layover ends under section 13A. Bought hints never expire while your account is open and Layover runs.
- Hint packs are consumable. Once you spend a hint, it is gone. Unspent hints stay in your account while it is open.
- If you delete your account, unspent hints are deleted and cannot be restored. This is stated before you confirm deletion.
- The Explorer Pass is a monthly subscription. While it is active it gives you every past day, unranked, and 1 extra free hint credit a day on top of the saved passport credit, so 2 free credits a day in all. The extra credit does not carry over. Every saved passport also collects 1 free credit each day it is opened, with a maximum free balance of 3. Missed days are not added later. Free credits are spent before purchased credits; purchased credits do not expire while the account stays open. It follows the Apple or Google account that pays for it: on a new device, sign in and use Restore purchases with that store account. If you restore it while signed in to a different Layover account, the pass moves to that account.
- Hint credits buy clues inside Layover and nothing else. They cannot win money, prizes or anything of money's worth, and nothing in Layover pays out money or money's worth.
8. Purchases
- Purchases are made through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google charges you, sets the payment terms and issues the receipt. Prices are shown in the store in your local currency and include taxes that the store collects.
- We use RevenueCat to record what you own. See the Privacy Policy.
- Prices, packs and features may change for future purchases. A change never takes away hints you already bought.
- We do not run ads.
- The Explorer Pass renews every month at the price shown in the store until you cancel. The store charges you when you confirm the purchase and again at each renewal. It renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current month; the store may charge the renewal within the 24 hours before the month ends. Cancel any time in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. After you cancel, the pass stays on until the end of the month you paid for, then past days lock and the extra daily hint credit stops. A saved passport still collects 1 free credit each day, up to 3. We do not give partial refunds for a month already started; the store decides refunds under its own rules.
9. Refunds
- Apple or Google decide refunds under their own rules, and we follow their decision. See the Refunds page. We have no other obligation to refund a store purchase, except as stated in sections 12 and 13A, or where the law where you live requires it. If a store refunds a purchase, we remove what it gave you.
10. What you may and may not do with Layover
- The daily puzzles, clues, seals, artwork, data and code belong to Anmoll Wadhwa, trading as The Wadhwa Ventures, or to people who license them to us. We give you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to play Layover and to share your own results. You may not copy, scrape, resell, republish or build a product from the puzzles, or decompile or reverse engineer the app, except as the law allows.
11. Your content
- Your handle is the only content you publish. You keep any rights in it, and you give us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, show and remove it in Layover and in screenshots of the game. You promise that you have the right to use it and that it breaks no law and no one else's rights.
12. Termination
- You may stop at any time by deleting your account.
- We may suspend or close an account if we reasonably believe it breaks these terms or the law, or puts others at risk.
- We may close an account with no sign-in for 12 months if it holds no unspent bought hints and no Explorer Pass. We will email a warning to the account email at least 30 days before we close it. Signing in before the closing date keeps the account open. Hints and passes you bought never expire.
- If we close your account for a reason other than you breaking these terms, including inactivity, we will, at our choice, restore your unspent hint packs bought in the 48 hours before closure to a new account, or refund the price of those packs. We do not restore or refund when we close an account for cheating, a breach of these terms, a legal requirement or a safety risk to other players.
13. Disclaimers and limits
- Layover is a game provided as it is and as available. We do not promise that it will be available every day, free of errors, or that every clue or fact is correct.
- To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special or punitive loss, for lost streaks, ranks, points, stamps or data, or for loss caused by events outside our reasonable control.
- To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for all claims is at most the amount you paid us in the six months before the date you first make the claim. If you paid us nothing in that time, your only remedy is to stop using Layover and delete your account.
- Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, wilful misconduct or gross negligence, for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for statutory consumer rights that cannot be excluded.
13A. Changing or ending Layover
- We may change, add or remove puzzles, hint types, features, the leaderboard or the Explorer Pass features at any time, and we may suspend Layover for maintenance or safety.
- We may end Layover altogether. If we do, we will tell players in the app at least 30 days before, stop selling hints and passes from that notice, and keep the game playable until the end date so that you can use the hints you have.
- Features listed for the Explorer Pass will not be removed while Layover runs unless we replace them with something of similar value.
13B. If a claim is brought against us because of you
- If you are 18 or over and a claim is brought against us because of your handle, your cheating, or your breach of these terms or the law, you will cover our reasonable losses and costs from that claim. This does not apply to any loss we caused.
14. Deleting your account
- Profile, Delete account, confirm. Your account leaves the game at once. There is no waiting period. A small locked record is kept for 180 days because Indian law requires it (see What stays). The delete page lists what is removed and what stays.
15. Changes
- We may change these terms. We will publish the new version in the app and on our website with its date.
- A change that is neutral or in your favour takes effect when we post it. A change that reduces your rights takes effect 7 days after we show an in-app notice, unless the law requires it sooner or it is needed for safety or security.
- If you keep using Layover after a change takes effect, you accept it. If you do not accept it, you may delete your account, and section 12 applies to any unspent hints.
16. Governing law and disputes
- These terms are governed by the laws of India. Courts at New Delhi have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer rights where you live. Write to the Grievance Officer first: Anmoll Wadhwa, hello@certifiedlost.com.
